Meningitis remains the leading infectious cause of neurological disabilities globally, disproportionately affecting children younger than 5 years and populations in the African meningitis belt. Whereas previous global estimates focused on ten pathogen categories, this study presents the most comprehensive analysis to date, assessing the meningitis burden attributable to 17 causative pathogens based on the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study (GBD) 2023 framework.

(Central) Auditory Processing Disorder ([C]APD) is an umbrella term for children who have difficulty with listening, despite normal hearing. Children with (C)APD frequently experience academic, behavioural, emotional, cognitive and social difficulties, and lack accessible, long-lasting wholistic treatments. Hence, a transdisciplinary intervention has been developed – Auditory-Cued Exercise Therapy.
Trans young people report lower levels of physical activity than their cisgender peers, with one in four limiting exercise participation due to their gender. Exercise provision within gender-affirming services represents an underexplored strategy to support health and wellbeing.

Here, the authors report on a qualitative mixed methods study with semistructured interviews of parents/guardians and their children undergoing anesthesia for surgery along with perioperative healthcare providers.
To summarize recent evidence in pediatric total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA), highlighting advances in pharmacokinetics-pharmacodynamics, target-controlled infusion (TCI), electroencephalography (EEG)-guided titration, emerging agents, safety, and sustainability, and to provide clinicians with an updated, practical framework for pediatric TIVA practice.
Trans and gender diverse (trans) young people experience higher rates of physical and mental ill-health due to chronic exposure to gender minority stress. Consequently, trans young people report higher health and mental healthcare service utilisation. Disconcertingly, negative experiences of healthcare services are prevalent among trans young people, especially those with additional marginalised identities and backgrounds who experience multiple forms of marginalisation.
