30 years

In 2020, we celebrated our 30th birthday with those who matter most — the kids whose lives we’ve changed through the research we do.

Nutrition & Metabolism

ORIGINS has sub-projects exploring the link between a mother's diet during pregnancy and health outcomes of the child. Projects also explore nutrition and eating habits during the early years.

Allergy, Inflammation & Immunity

ORIGINS has several sub-projects exploring allergy development within the cohort, with a focus on nutritional strategies for allergy prevention.

Journey Together

The Journey Together initiative aims to improve the life trajectories for Aboriginal children across three sites in Western Australia – Port Hedland, Newman and Perth.

Brain & Behaviour

Brain and behaviour research encompasses a child's learning, development and mental health - and the impact and development of conditions like cerebral palsy, autism and intellectual disability.

Mental Health

According to the Young Minds Matter study, mental health disorders such as anxiety and depression are experienced by approximately one in seven or 560,000 young people in Australia. These disorders can often have a significant impact on children’s learning and development and on family life.

Impact: Collaboration

On this Research Impact page, we list stories helping demonstrate how we collaborate with other leaders, innovators, communities, and international stakeholders to ensure excellent research results. The better our results, the better the chances of research making a real difference.
