A student’s learning potential is limited if they do not attend school regularly. Our research examines the broad range of reasons that students have for missing school, how common these different reasons are, and if some absences have greater impacts on student outcomes than others. Answering these questions will help to understand what sort of interventions may be required for different groups of students who miss school for different reasons.
