The aim of this study is to see if the Medtronic hybrid closed loop system, a portable artificial pancreas is feasibly to use in the home. The system consists of a glucose sensor that sits under the skin, an insulin pump that delivers insulin and an Android-based smartphone that contain the maths program to calculate the insulin needed. Patients will learn to use the device for 2 days in hospital, and then for 5 days at home. Their results will be compared to when they use their insulin pump as normally. This study is now complete and has been presented at an international conference
