Dr Louise Delane is part of the Healing Kids, Healing Families team. She is currently working on a project at The Kids Research Institute Australia that focuses on understanding the experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people (aged 0-18 years) and their families when engaging with mainstream mental health services across the Perth metropolitan area, in order to improve the cultural safety of these services.
Louise also works as a Clinical Psychologist, primarily within the fields of child/adolescent, family, and perinatal mental health. Louise is interested in the relational, contextual, and systemic factors that contribute to mental health.
Projects
Building a culturally safe mental health system for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people
The impact of colonisation, genocide, and continuing discriminatory policies have created a context for ongoing disadvantage, trauma, and high rates of mental health issues for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people.
