The Future Child Health project aims to quantify how current and future environmental changes affect child health.
According to the WHO, up to 88% of the existing burden of disease due to climate change occurs in children under 5 years old, in both lower and higher income countries.
Future Child Health‘s mission is to:
- Drive innovative, world-leading research in climate change and child health
- Determine which childhood diseases and conditions are affected by climate at different spatial scales
- Co-design interventions with impacted communities to develop strategies to protect children from the harms of climate change
- Translate the project's research findings into adaptation strategies and policy
- Advocate the prioritisation of children in climate change and health policy
- Embed consumers and the community in all stages of our research
- Collaborate with a wide network of national and international research leaders and health professionals
- Develop the next generation of independent researchers
