Researchers from The Kids Research Institute Australia, working with the Autism CRC, have led the development of the National Guideline for the Assessment and Diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder in Australia which was launched today.
Professor Andrew Whitehouse and Dr Kiah Evans led the development of the Guideline which aims to create greater consistency in assessment and diagnostic practices across the country to ensure individuals on the autism spectrum and their families can receive the optimal clinical care and support. The Guideline also emphasises the importance of listening to individuals and their families about the impact of the behaviours on everyday life.
