The Opportunity
The Gender Diversity Service at Princess Margaret Hospital for Children provides treatment for children and adolescents who are gender diverse. We are initiating a new longitudinal study of clients seen by the service with the aim of better understanding the long-term physical and mental health outcomes of young gender diverse people treated by tertiary services.
The Role
We are looking for a motivated and passionate research assistant to join the team based at the Gender Diversity Service at PMH 3 days a week. The successful applicant will assist in the recruitment, assessment and continued engagement of participants in the study and their families. The successful applicant will work very closely with an experienced research assistant and the multi-disciplinary team at the Gender Diversity Service. This role would suit applicants interested in gender diversity and mental health who are keen to be involved in this area of research.
Experience
- Bachelor degree in health sciences, preferably with Honours.
- Experience with working with children and adolescents
- Highly developed interpersonal communication skills, including demonstrated ability to work with and connect with young people
- Demonstrated experience in building relationships and working collaboratively with young people, families and/or clinical teams
- Strong attention to detail and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to work with and respect diverse peoples and their choices
- Demonstrated ability to set goals, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
