This position is part of a larger effort to establish an integrated solution for a next generation genomics program at The Kids Research Institute Australia. Be involved in preparation of NGS libraries for next-generation sequencing. The work will lead to the creation of a clinical pipeline utilising omics approaches and will contribute to the creation of a clinical pipeline utilising omics approaches to improve a patients' wellbeing.
The successful candidate will:
- Have a PhD in Biology, Biochemistry
- Be proficient in sterile technique, standard NGS & molecular biology, including cloning, electrophoresis, and PCR
- Demonstrate experience in nucleic acid extractions, quantitative RT-PCR, and preparation of NGS libraries for next-generation sequencing (RNA-seq/single cell sequencing/WGS/Exome capture etc.)
- Be able to prepare general lab stocks and buffers and maintain well-organized experimental records
- Demonstrate knowledge of research methodologies
- Work as part of a team and participate in group meetings while confident to work independently
- Be able to manage multiple priorities and a demanding schedule with excellent planning and organizational skills
- Possess superior interpersonal and communication (both written and verbal) skills
- Pay attention to detail
- Good computer literacy (Apple and PC, Microsoft Office)
This is a part time position (0.5 FTE), for 12 months with the possibility of extension. Remuneration package includes access to generous salary packaging.
The successful candidate will need to provide a current National Police Check before commencement.
