Professor Caroline Homer AO

Caroline commenced as Executive Director and Board Member at The Kids Research Institute Australia in July 2026.

A globally recognised leader in maternal and child health, Professor Homer has an international career that spans clinical care, academic research, policy influence and senior leadership.

Most recently she was an Executive Council Member, Deputy Director, Gender Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and Co-Head of the Global Women and Newborn Health Group at the Burnet Institute in Melbourne.

Professor Homer is also a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences and has served as Chair of the National Health and Medical Research Council since 2021.

Naomi Flutter, Chair

Naomi is Executive General Manager, Corporate Affairs at Wesfarmers Limited, a role she has held since 2018. Naomi works with Wesfarmers diverse divisions, across responsibilities spanning communications, government, sustainability, Indigenous affairs, philanthropy and the arts.

Before Wesfarmers, Naomi worked with Deutsche Bank for 20 years in public sector mergers and acquisitions, equity capital markets, commercial banking and business management. From 2013, she led the Bank's Global Transaction Banking business in Australia and New Zealand, responsible for the delivery of commercial banking to local clients. In 2016, she assumed additional responsibilities, leading the Bank's Trust and Agency businesses across seven Asian markets, from Japan to Mauritius.

Naomi holds honours degrees in Economic History and Law from the Australian National University (ANU) and a Master of Public Policy from Harvard University's John F Kennedy School of Government.

Alongside her work, Naomi served on the ANU Council for ten years to June 2024, including seven years to June 2024 as Pro Chancellor.

She commenced the role of Chair at The Kids in August 2024, and is also Chair of the People and Culture Committee.

Ed Bostock

Ed joined the Board in August 2021 and is Chair of the Commercialisation Committee and a member of the People & Culture Committee. 

He is Managing Partner of Anchorage Capital Partners and holds a number of senior leadership roles, including Director of Equipment Leasing & Finance, Chairman of ENTAG Pty Ltd, Director of the Richmond Football Club, and Chairman and Director of both HMA Group and HMA International.

With an extensive background in private equity, investment and corporate strategy, Ed has held executive and leadership positions across a diverse range of industries. His previous roles include Chief Financial Officer of Wesfarmers Health and senior investment leadership positions with global and domestic private equity firms Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR) and Pacific Equity Partners. He is also Chair of Wespine Industries Pty Ltd. Ed brings deep expertise in investment, business development and strategic growth, and holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Melbourne.

Brendan Crabb AC

Professor Brendan Crabb AC PhD joined the Board in June 2022 and is a member of the Risk and Compliance Committee. Professor Crabb is an infectious disease researcher, Director and CEO of the Burnet Institute, and Chair of the Australian Global Health Alliance and the Pacific Friends of Global Health.

He serves on the International Advisory Boards of the Sanger Institute (UK) and WHO’s Malaria Vaccine Advisory Committee (Geneva).

He is a fellow of the Australian Academy of Science and the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences.

His passion is to use science and innovation to improve the health of all peoples, especially to contribute to a more equitable Australia, region and wider world.

Dean Gilkison

Dean joined the Board in June 2025, and is a Founding Director and Chair of Broadleaf Financial Group Limited and specialises in business succession in Financial Advisory businesses. 

He has more than 25 years’ experience as an Adviser, Director, and Responsible Manager of an Australian Financial Services Licensee. 

Dean holds a Certified Financial Planner designation, has a Diploma and Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning, a Master of Applied Finance and is an Alumni of Harvard Business School. 

Dean is the Chair of the Finance Committee and a member of the People and Culture Committee.

Jane Muirsmith

Jane is one of Australia’s leading digital strategists and is Managing Director of Lenox Hill, a digital strategy and solutions advisory company.

She is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and has an Honours Degree in Commerce.

Jane currently serves on the board of Australian Finance Group, Cedar Woods Properties and Water Corporation,  She is the immediate past Chair of HealthDirect Australia and past President of the WA Women’s Advisory Council to the WA Government.

Jane joined the The Kids Board in February 2018 and is the Chair of the Risk and Compliance Committee.

Adele Stratton

Adele is a qualified chartered accountant with more than 20 years’ experience working in both professional practice and public listed companies.

She adds to The Kids board significant finance and commercial experience. She is the Chief Financial Officer and Head of Development at global critical minerals company Iluka Resources and a Non-Executive Director at Deterra Royalties, which oversees the management and growth of royalty assets across a range of commodities.

Adele started her career with KPMG in assurance practice both in the UK, where she qualified as a chartered accountant, and Australia. She also worked as a senior analyst at Rio Tinto Iron Ore in Perth.

Adele holds a Bachelor of Accounting from the University of Liverpool and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors

Adele joined The Kids Board in May 2025 and is a member of the Finance Committee.

Hon. Ken Wyatt AM JP

Ken was the Federal Member for Hasluck (2010- 2023) and was the first Indigenous Australian elected to the House of Representatives. He served as Australia’s first Minister for Indigenous Australians (2019-2022), as well as Minister for Aged Care, Minister for Indigenous Health and Minister for Aged Care and Senior Australians.

He brings to The Kids Board a wealth of experience in the public, private and political sectors. Ken has a Bachelor of Education in Advanced Education and is a Life member of the Order of Australia.

He serves on the boards of Beyond Blue, Energy Resources of Australia, Rock Art Australia, EON Protection, is a Director Governance and Compliance at Swan Districts Football Club and is Chair, UWA Public Policy Institute.

Ken joined The Kids Board in May 2025 and is a member of the People and Culture Committee.

Ingrid Scheffer AO

Laureate Professor Ingrid Scheffer AO joined the Board in November 2025, and is a physician-scientist whose work as a paediatric neurologist and epileptologist at the University of Melbourne and Florey Institute has led epilepsy genetics research over 25 years. In collaboration with Professor Samuel Berkovic and molecular geneticists, they identified the first epilepsy gene and many genes subsequently.

Professor Scheffer was the founding Vice-President (2014-2019) and second President (2019-2023) of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences (AAHMS). She served on the National Health and Medical Research Council for two triennia (2015-2021), and on government Expert Committees on medical cannabis and the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2014, Professor Scheffer was awarded the honour of Officer of the Order of Australia, elected as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science and was co-recipient of the Australia Prime Minister’s Prize for Science. She was the 2012 L’Oréal-UNESCO Women in Science Laureate for the Asia-Pacific region, and elected a Fellow of the Royal Society (2018). In 2025, she received the Outstanding Female Researcher Award from the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences. 

Dr. Andrew McLean

Dr. Andrew McLean is following his passion for working with inventors to build businesses solving generational human & global challenges. He has a passion for supporting entrepreneurs on the courageous journey of company-building and its source of growth & development.

As part of the founding team at Oxford Science Enterprises he led investments into DJS Antibodies (acquired by Abbvie) mirobio (Acquired by Gilead), Vaccitech (inventor of the Oxford-AZ covid vaccine), Pepgen and hired the founding team of Base Genomics. He studied medicine at UWA and philosophy, politics, and economics at Oxford.

Andrew has a passion for prime numbers, running and learning new languages. His current project is Yolngu Matha (an east Arnhem language).

Andrew joined The Kids Board in April 2026 and is a member of Commercialisation Committee.
