Project description
This unique interdisciplinary project, funded by Healthway, aims to develop a Food Atlas tool for mapping, measuring, and monitoring food access across Western Australia. The Food Atlas will visualise and quantify the locations of food businesses throughout Greater Perth, creating a prototype for potential state and national-scale applications.
Designed to meet the needs of professionals in policy, public health, environmental health, and urban planning, the Food Atlas will allow users to search by suburb, local government area, or distances from specific destinations such as schools. By offering interactive maps, summary metrics and trend data showing how the food environment changes over time, it will provide an evidence base to drive policy changes aimed at enhancing food environments.
